(TV) Irksome Beatle

I just got around to reading the thread about Paul McCartney saying that
Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks" is new to him and also "odd". I don't thnk
Paul was serious. I think he just likes to irk his peers. I met him last
October at a Vogue fashion awards dinner. (He was there because his
daughter Stella is a designer, I was there because I was a Vogue model
and now I'm doomed to attend their awards dinners forever, and they do
go on forever). I spoke to Paul briefly and he was very witty and maybe
high. When Mick Jagger heard I'd met Paul he said they're buddies
despite the fact that a few years ago Paul irked him by "revealing" to
the press that he, Paul McCartney, was the one who introduced Jagger to
marijuana in the early sixties. "Not true! Rubbish." said Mick. (It was
probably Little Richard or Roy Orbison who really turned Mick on to
marijuana.) Paul was probably just teasing Van Morrison, trying to
rattle his cage, when he told a reporter that "Astral Weeks" was new to
him and "odd".

I told Tom that "Marquee Moon" is on Best Buy's web site with a great
review. It mentions the NME polls. (Bestbuy.com). I read a business
report that said Best Buy's web site is doing better than K-Mart's or
Wal-Mart's.
