hey, i'm new around here & have been lurking for the past few weeks, but i 
have to tell you this IS an entertaining list.

my fave music books that haven't been mentioned :
bootleg, a history of the other record industry: clinton heylin
space is the place-the lives and times of sun ra:john szwed
john coltrane: lewis porter
bad seed - bio of nick cave: ian johnston
as serious as your life: valerie wilmer
uptight: victor brokis bio of the velvets

the lester bangs bio, let it blurt?

also, sometimes i find out more than i need to know about my favorite 
musicians by reading about them. then it makes it hard for me to listen to 
their work if i know they've been a real jerk.
