Roper's All the Time--Slumberland Records

Alternative Press called All The Time, "...a timeless
record that will be looked to as a landmark a decade
from now."

This one will be hard to find on cd. It's out of
print. But if you find it in cut out bin or used cd
shop pick it up. It's also apparently available on
vinyl. See link below. Another case of a great band
burning out too soon. (1991-1996) Believe the hype.

Washington DC's Ropers are a shining star in the US
pop firmament. Their 3 previous 7" singles and CD EP
on Slumberland have astonished lovers of great guitar
pop with their deft combination of 60's psychedelic
pop songs and 90's guitar noise, and now their long
awaited debut full-length will surely do the same.

All The Time expands and consolidates The Roper's
mastery of the introspective pop form. The opener, and
first single, "Revolver," is pure jangling pop in a
"Power, Corruption, and Lies" era New Order vein,
complete with harmonica. "Drive" is impossibly
hypnotic, pulsing along with the best of
Spiritualized/Spectrum. On "you have a light" Melora
Mather (of Nirvana fame) adds delicious cello, which
sweetens and fills out the song's fabulous melodies.
Every song is a distinct and fully-realized creation,
each one showing another side to the Roper's talents.

This great album would not have been possible without
the expert production of Ultra Vivid Scene's Kurt
Ralske, who has also recently had great success with
his studio work with Ivy NYC and Lotion. Mr. Ralske's
sure hand has allowed The Ropers to freely mix noise
and melody without any loss of clarity, and this album
shines because of it. Solidly in the tradition of
psychedelic pop from Love through to Boo Radleys, The
Ropers have added their name to the list of greats
with this record. It's no wonder that Alternative
Press called All The Time, "...a timeless record that
will be looked to as a landmark a decade from now."
