Re: (TV) Lou Reed Bootlegs

Never heard it. A record store in Toronto has it, but they want $38.00 for
it. Plus, some hippie told me it wasn't that good.

Which shop, cameron?

I agree with everything on this list, except Metal Machine Music. I just can't like that album.

Yeah, its' been released and then re-released on CD. the re-release is known as Metal Machine Music Ltd., hologram cover, liner notes (by david fricke i think).

The CD version runs only the four tracks, and then ends at the 16:08 or whatever it is of track 4. which i guess stems away from the point. truth is, i really have no clue what lou was trying to do with it. I think it's hilarious, but I can only take it in doses of about fifteen seconds. if it was done intentionally (something I'm missing in the noise/sound), or it was just a contractual obligation record, who knows. but I don't think thats the point.

but i'd much rather listen to the entire side one of MMM than anything by Frey & Co.

I once had a discussion/argument with my boss about Lou Reed. She was claiming that Lou Reed was a "great soul singer" and I was like wuhuh? She said Transformer was her favorite album, so the next day I brought in MMM for her to listen. After ten seconds, I decided never to be a pompous ass with my boss ever again.

Is it released on CD? The funny thing about the "nonsense" is that it's cut up in four tracks (one on each side) with the same length, >16:08 or something. Except for side D. After 16:08 there is a eternity symbol. The track has no end, like a loop, it's the best part of the >album. I suppose this only works on vinyl. If it's released on CD, how >did they solve that.

N.P.

David Thomas and Two Pale Boys - Erewhon
The White Stripes - White Blood Cells
Ladytron - 604
