RE: (TV) A Manic Night

Thanks Joe.

I guess while a second tribute is being discussed, one of the things is most
people cannot even fathom how much time and effort was spent by the
volunteers.

For my own part, outside of the list archives and the tribute list archives
I probably processed and responded to over 300 e-mails regarding the tribute
(including tabbing out guitar parts for a contributer, e-mailing him the tab
and never as much as said thanks or bothered to contribute that or any other
song, yeah I'm still sore over that one). No one, outside of my wife, knows
how much work I put into the project. I think everyone who was involved
with the project can relate to that.

Having no clue about web design or code or any of that tech stuff I can't
possibly comprehend the amount of work Joe and Keith put into designing the
website, ordering the songs, editing the wav files, burning the master
discs, putting up the mp3's, setting up a seperate mailing list, and
distributing the discs.

No one knows how many drafts of the essay Jay wrote, how long Keith's skins
took to make and how many designs, fonts, templates, etc went into the
typography Maurice did.

Emilie spent a lot of time researching and supplying us with copyright law
and for all that effort was flamed by another lister whose opinion was based
on emotion rather than fact.

Chuck Bird spent at least a few hours responding to my e-mails regarding
tribute logistics, etc.

All the cd burners probably spent alot of time burning and, I am
speculating, money handing out the tribute.

And I really can't speak to the rest of the contributers but covering and
recording a Verlaine or Lloyd song is not easy and I after spending a month
on Postcard from waterlou, I absolutely hate that song!

And everyone else I am surely forgetting...

One thing I have noticed though is that not a single one of us from the
first tribute jumped up and volunteered for the second one. I'm with you
Joe, I am not getting involved at this level again. Thats a project for you
youngsters to the list :-)

My apologies. I just reviewed the archives, and realized that you did, in
fact, do the work of pulling in all the submissions and arranging for
the cover and liner notes and dozens of other details.

I'm not quite sure why I've got this level of attitude about it,
except that I know that I'm not up for that level of involvement again!

So here, in public, I apologize again for pulling an unwarranted attitude
about this. Sorry!
