It's a submissive, docile amp head.  Seriously, it's usually used to make
another amp louder, running the output of a smaller amp into the power amp
of another - eg, a Fender Champ running into a 100-watt Marshall.  Richard's
setup for Matthew Sweet describes a rig where he ran a Vox AC30 into a
Marshall half-stack; Neil Young does something similar, where a Fender
DeLuxe runs into Baldwin and Magnatone amps.
