(TV) off-topic...while there's a lull

had the absolute pleasure last night to catch the end of the Roxy Music
world tour here in London-absolutely fanfeckinfastic-one of the greatest
shows i've ever seen without doubt-super haughty ironic dancing girls,Ferry
in a leather then silver lame suit looking drop dead supercool (this is a 55
year old man don't forget and he carried it off NO problem at all)- all
original members present and correct except for Eno (a real shame tho they
did play "music for airports" as we were filing home in jubilant mood so his
presence and influence was present and correct as it surely should be) and
the band totally kicking collective ass - i was close to tears on several
occasions such was the sheer emotional verve, intensity and majesty of this
fab music which helped colour and pull me thru some particularly drab /
monochrome teenage years growing up in grimmest NIreland-i mean some of
these songs are thirty years old and they _still_ sound so very way ahead of
the game today- genius is a much overused term but surely it applies to
RM-and surely this is the also truest and purest function of music namely to
take you out of yourself and your environment for a few hours and to put a
big beaming permagrin on yer fisser !!!!! i feel priviledged to have
witnessed something so truly uplifting and wonderfully satisfying on EVERY
possible level - melody!glamour!charisma!memorable
tunes!excitement!joyfullness!laughter!communality! the whole crowd going
"wow!" in unison when Ferry sang the "hear the sirens wail" line in "Street
life"...fingers raised to play invisible castinets...oh yaaaas!y'know this
could very well have been a real going- thu- the- motions kinda gig but
instead the vitality and sheer potent positive energy of the music and
performances were absolutely transcendent...a night never to be
forgotten....

best news of all is that they recorded the whole shebang for a forthcoming
dvd so one day soon you'll all be able to view this fantastically colourful
and invigorating show...i even put on my best gladrags for the occasion
(well you have to really don't you ? i mean this is Roxy Music f'er crying
out)....another plus was that Chris Speeding was there on guitar- a real
underrated unsung dude -check out his stuff on Ferry's solo lps or if you
're lucky the Bottom Line boot from '75-absolutely incendiary
playing...however last night was senor Manzanera's turn in the spotlight of
course -and rightly so-no slouch himself -superb!

The fact that all four main Roxy protagonists continue to exude a beautiful
dignity warms the heart's cockles immensely-it was a joy to see them all
laughing and so obviously enjoying themselves-totally inspirational in
fact....so.....
still floating on air today and going for a fitting with my tailor later for
a slinky silver lame tux number ...oh yeah babies!....and this is just the
beginning....

love and peace to all of you on this list in these difficult unstable
times - the good will always out.....
