(TV) temp-itis, from semi-scoring a to-picture track

I found this bit about the 'Big Bad Love' soundtrack, in the March
'Pulse!' rag (Tower Records):(Debra Winger was the musical producer,
among other things, for this film) "Songs by Burnside, Ford, and Belfour
appear on the soundtrack (Nonesuch records) along with tracks by Kenny
Brown, Asie Payton, Junior Kimbrough, Steve Earle, and an unplanned
collaboration between Television guitarist Tom Verlaine and the Kronos
Quartet. "I wanted to bring in Kronos to do some semi-scoring - not a
score per se, because we had so much music-but there were parts of the
film that really needed very specialized, to-picture feeling," Winger
says. They ended up playing along with an existing track by Tom Verlaine,
with whom they had always wanted to work. "Our editor had found [the
Verlaine track], used it as a sort of temp track and then we got
temp-itis, as they call it, and fell in love. We couldn't see the scene
without it."
