Sam Mathews' mention of
rev gary davis-blind street singer
reminds me that I've been wanting to get some blues-related recommendations from guitaristically well-informed people. You all seem to fit the bill. Specifically, I'm interested in beginning to explore the worlds of R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. From limited listening I think I much prefer that electric country blues style to, say, Chicago blues.
I also remember hearing, a million years ago or so, a Rev. Gary Davis album I really liked. Unfortunately I've never been able to recall which one. So any recommendations for the good Rev. are welcome as well.
