Re: (TV) NME: Um, huh?

This NME poll wasn't conducted very scientifically. A more trustworthy poll was
done by MMML over March 19th/20th in New York City, using a representative
sampling of roughly 1,000 people (mostly white males) who had congregated a
block off from Union Square, near 15th street. An overwhelming percentage -
96%! - named Television as the "most influential artist" ever.

Of those 96% percent, 81% thought Tom Verlaine also deserved to be
"plaster-casted" as Mr. Lloyd has been, but 99.4% of those people emphatically
did not want to take part in the casting process.

Among the 4% of respondents who did *not* name Television as the "most
influential artist ever", 3% ranted about Echo and the Bunnymen for far too
long, and 1% voted for Lynyrd Skynyrd (even going so far as to name "Free
Bird", or alternately, "Radio Free Europe" as their favorite song ever).
