(TV) Tom's Sound

Just got one of those multi effects units cos the one I've got ha done about
1,000 gigs and sounds like I'm playing through a banana .

I'm currently struggling to clear all the awful metal presets and am trying
to attain the nearest I can to the sound on tracks like Marquee Moon and The
Dreams Dream .

Any tips ?
