(TV) Gregg's Discovery

Yes Gregg. The original "Linda Lou" comes from the Del Shannon era. It
was written by rockabilly star Ray Sharpe. Years later the Rolling
Stones recorded "Linda Lou" in Jamaica right after Richard Lloyd spent
the weekend at Keith Richards' house. I was there, thanks to Richard.
Richard and Keith did lots of fantastic acoustic jamming all night even
though Keith's Gibson had a crack in it. "That's a Gibson for ya,"
cracked Keith. The Stones' "Linda Lou" is on a bootleg and might be on
their upcoming box set of hits and rarities. Verlaine's "Lindi Lu" with
Tom's own lyrics (and my quote--that was indiscreet of him, I thought,
but I didn't mind at all) was written after he heard about the Stones'
version. I like Tom's best, by far.
