Must insert Pre-Rollins Black Flag here. Their first single was
self-released in 1978 when Hotel California was the state anthem.  Greg
Ginn brought in thrash guitar leads, clinical data to the Ramones
psychotherapy motif and I'm pretty sure the Cali bands upped the speed
quotient.
