Ok--I know that the original question was for the true punk band of the
70's, but I'll quote D Boon (or was it Mike Watt...) who in an interview
said something to the effect of: "People think punk rock started in England
with the Sex Pistols, but it didn't. Punk Rock started in 60s in the Pacific
Northwest with the Sonics."

Count my vote for my local boys--nobody can argue with a track like
Cinderella--they red-lined their one track all-tube recording console during
every session, and the result is true pure aggression.
