(TV) Reissues and Guitar Effects

Got my MM and Adventure reissues a few days ago. It's fun to hear the
alt versions....

A question for guitarheads on the list. At about the 4:55 mark on
Marquee Moon (the start of the solo) someone (Tom I guess),  sounds
like he's hitting an open D and picking it near the bridge, but I
think he's also using some effect. It sounds sort of "bubbly".

Anyone know what it is?
