For those of you interested, Tom Herman's solo CD will soon be up for sale
on the Pere Ubu site. Some folks already have it here on the list if you
need to know how it sounds.

I highly recommend the Tom Herman disc, folks. As always, his guitar work is
suburb; great layering of guitar overdubs are definite Earcandy. Each time
I listened to it, I found I had a new favorite. It slams in strong with
first cut 300 Years and continues in overdrive from there. Other favs: I
m Drowning and Your Street . With all the music coming in, its rare to
play something more than once or twice before throwing it in one of the
multiple mylar stacks. This ones been by the computer ever since getting
it in with multiple spins. Great that its going up for sale on the Ubu site
as it deserves to be heard. If you loved his work with Ubu and Tripod
Jimmie, support Toms latest, greatest creation.

On other Ubu alum news:
1) definitely catch Rockets From the Tomb when they hit your town on
this tour. Our Mr. Lloyd doesnt get to stretch out much (instead providing
impeccable support.its Cheetah Chrome who takes the spotlight, even away
from David Thomas). Richard is given the spotlight on song Amphetamine
while Gene sings. Its one of the best concerts Ive seen all year. What
was more amazing was the fact the the audience was made up mostly by
twenty-something age group who..know the words to songs like What Love
Is and Final Solution.. where did they hear these songs. Smog Veil must
be doing great marketing.
2) Smog Veil are also putting on the finishing touches to the re-Issue
of Ubu great Jim Jones old band The Easter Monkeys: Splendor Of Sorrow.
This is a truly great album that has languished in obscurity for far too
long. Also great to hear that live tracks are being appended to it as the
band was supposed to be incredible live. My copy from vinyl is in bad shape
from far too much overplay.   Also, sales of this will help Jim Jones out;
he was mis-diagnosed with Lou Gehrig disease but he continues to need major
medical treatment and the bills are expensive. The Rockets From the Tombs
have a benefit for him Nov 30th to go toward his debt. But, if you are a
fan of his, you can also send a paypal donation. Heres the original email
as posted by David Thomas on the Ubu list:
Jim Jones is in the middle of several ongoing and serious
health problems. As well, he is recovering from quadruple
bypass heart surgery on October 21. To ease the financial
burden on him and to give him some comfort his friends are
promoting a benefit. All proceeds go to a trust set up for him. The
benefit is Sunday, November 30, at the Beachland Ballroom in
Cleveland. Rocket From The Tombs will be playing. To give a
donation via PayPal click on the URL below. All donations go to a
trust dedicated to his needs.

you might need to cut & paste the address as mail lists tend to beak up the
