Who would have thought Bill Berry was so crucial to
REM?
(I did.)
I had bad feelings about the future of REM listening
to "Automatic for the People." Halfway through the
record inspiration seemed to have taken the bus outta'
town. There are great songs - and then, there's not.
What the hell happened to Peter Buck's guitar playing?
It used to be so nimble and articulate. Now, it's just
numbed out fuzz signifying nothing.
But, they were glorious.
