Re: (TV) Sick of U2! - Tom & Richard's guitar effects, anyone?

(a bit late ) i got an old EH micro synth ,is actually a real analog synth in a sheet metal box ! ,the swells are cool ,and octave UP efect is the only natural sounding that i ve heard ,anyway i find it hard to use live ,sometimes it tracks well and sometimes it just farts around ...i am a big fan of EH ,the small stone is the best phaser ,real versatile with just one knob and a slider switch !
as for the seymour duncan jaguar PUs ,everybody seems to dig them ,i love to try em on my jaguar ,especially the antiquity series ,certainly not the quarter pounds , also consider tha fender american vintage pus , read good things about them . the reissue jaguars are well built ,but the pickups didnt sound as well as the ones on my 68 mustang ... if you find something new about tom s gear please post it ,love to know what pedals he s using ...

Richard: a TS808 and a Boss - sheesh! How rock was the
Matthew Sweet stuff? I have to hear some of it, I
should be ashamed of myself. Was he using one pedal as
a "hotbox" to boost for solos? (My money is on the TS
808 if he was, a la SRV, one of the most overrated
geetarists of all time IMMO - the second M is for
Misguided, it seems everyone worships him apart from
me)

The Eventide Ultra-Harmoniser? Anyone know what those
are? Llllloooovvvveeee Bob's tone - apparently he
used an MXR distortion in Husker Du - that is the one
sound I have always wanted to be able to get , the
vintage "BobTone" - just for self-gratification, you
understand.

They (guitargeek) have nothing on Tom but I vaguely
recall someone posting that Tom is a footswitch only
man - is this true? Has he never been spotted with
any gadgetry? Even though I was right up against the
stage at The Liquid Rooms I was too enraptured to be
taking notes. In the studio have they ever used
digital stuff - or is it always analogue? (Cover is
probably riddled with digital stuff - no? I'll shut up
then...) Is there gear lists for them?

Does anyone else here play a Jaguar? I have a white
one, CIJ 1997 a la "The Millers Tale" piccies. Only
not as cool. I use gauge 13's, have customised the
Jaguar with a Mustang bridge, topped up the trem so it
is down only and hard against the plate and play with
a metal plectrum! Masochist! I reckon Tom would have
set his up similar...can't see a Mustang bridge on 'em
though, and you have to get that done if you have a
Jaguar. Anyone know someone who set up Tom's Jaguar or
any of his guitars? Why does he play a Strat these
days? Are his hands not able/strong enough to tame the
Jaguar? Is there any info on his choice of guitars -
for instance, the clear one on the Foxhole cover -
what is that? Always wodered if it was a real Fender.

www.jag-stang.com - sometimes Tom is discussed in the
forums....only briefly though.

Ok, recently got an EH Double Muff. Any guitar players
out there - try it. I love it, the whole pedal can be
controlled from your guitar - how I do not know, and I
have had most distortion boxes. Bass-cut switch on the
Jaguar makes a HUGE (sorry about the caps) difference
with it. It is like having two-stage distortion on
your guitar. The tone and volume controls on the
Jaguar make huge differences as well. I just posted a
review of it on Harmony Central so it might no be up
for a few dys, but it is true bypass and real cheap -
gotta check it out. Nails "Call Mr Lee" pretty well
(though obviously not completely). Isound like an
advert for EH.

I got an EH Micro Synth not long ago - I can make my
Jaguar sound like a Cello, and get TV-style swells
with the Attack delay - only with a sub-octave in
there too. Thick and creamy sound it gets is the
best. It can also do a lot more - I really need to
spend more time fiddling with it. Anybody else got
one?

Getting an EH Memory Man for Christmas...I can't wait.
Anyone got one of these? Sorry, I should really post
these questions to a guitar forum, but there a lot of
wise string-sages on here by the looks of
things....anyone put Seymour Duncan Jag pickups in
their Jaguar as a replacement? Advice? Mine feeds back
too much....

I think i've broke the record for the amount of
questions in a post to this list.
