"Cast away
Back in the day, Cynthia Plaster Caster was famous for making plaster casts
of the private parts
of well-known rockers, including Wayne Kramer of the MC5, Richard Lloyd of
Television, and
singer Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys.
But the artist's most famous subject was guitarist Jimi Hendrix,
immortalized in plaster Feb. 25, 1968.
The 5 3/4-inch cast was to be exhibited this month at Cambridge's Club
Passim but was nixed by club
officials concerned about upsetting kids and families. (The''Hung" exhibit
still features works by rock artists
Arturo Vega, Jayne County, Godlis, and Dee Dee Ramone, among others.) PUNK
mag photographer
and show curator John Nikolai said Plaster Caster's cast will be displayed
at the opening-night
reception July 25, then removed
