Re: (TV) Tom playing the SXSW Festival

i was wondering if he might be part of a thrilljockey
showcase (which wouldn't be great, as acts generally
play pretty short sets at that sort of thing). i
would think it would be some sort of promotion for
warm and cool (and/or anything else upcoming).

the first time i saw patti smith was at sxsw 2000,
just before she released gung ho. i started listening
to her in about 1980, just after she retired, and
figured i'd never see her live. she headlined a free
show in the park at sxsw 2000, thousands of people
(and i was front and center) (and i caught her sweat
towel, left handed, still have it, it's blue). maybe
patti will make it back this year.

i don't normally get out much for sxsw, don't buy a
wristband, maybe catch a couple of shows. but will
buy a wristband if it looks like that will help get a
good spot for tom this year.

neil young will be the "keynote speaker" -- but that
doesn't always mean much for the show-going masses.
