Feel free to start a list there if you'd like.

For the rest of the folks who have been very supportive, you have my
heartfelt thanks. Robin, you suggested that I get a raise, so I've
just doubled my compensation. Of course, 2x$0 is still $0!

The compensation actually comes from the great sense of community that
I feel here, and the satisfaction of having a part in it. Having met a
number of you face-to-face at various times has been very rewarding in
ways that make financial compensation seem trivial.

For those who are wondering what caused this indigestion, I had the
opportunity to buy a dual processor Sun, and put that in place as the
new server. Running the same operating system as the older Sun, I just
picked up the filesystems from the old server and dropped them on the
new. I've done this at least 2 other times in the history of the list,
with no issues.

The thing that is making this so hard to troubleshoot is that it *almost*
works. The digest is set to go out when there are no more than 1 day's
worth of messages. When the list sees a message in a work area that's over
24 hours older than a new message coming it, it's supposed to take all
the messages in the work area and make the digest. It's triggering at the
right time, but it's only using some of the old messages to make the digest,
and once that happens, they stick around in the work area, causing any
subsequent messages to create a new digest, but with only the single new
message in it.

For anyone familiar with troubleshooting computers, this sort of almost-
working, only some of the time problem is the most difficult type to
solve.

Thanks again to everyone for their support and understanding as I work
through this. If someone could just wipe up the wall where I've left
some bloodstains on it from banging my head against it over this, I'd
appreciate it.
