here, i never post but i hated this list..... not that i dont
own eight of their top ten records [guess], not that i dont prefer
most of what they stuck up top to what they stuck later down but--
oh, i could rearrange this list, i could do a whole mess of
elimination, i could say, why not, that it's a pretentious, not a
subversive list, although subversion is what it attempts-- & fails--
in two years, or a year, when the tom verlaine buzz dies, i
should think we would no longer be hearing that television fly-around
at the no. 2 spot on such a list as this. when that no. 4 can top
over horses by the amount it does, or, even, say, the doors, or when
[my personal favorite] the most likely soon to be forgotten no. 36
comes up, what, almost eighty points over elvis presley-- elvis
presley-- can anyone say old no. 36 would exist w/o elvis presley? or
the beatles, for that matter, or the rolling stones or-- oh, is chuck
berry even on this list? i dont own a chuck berry record, sad to say,
it's not my thing, but i would rather listen to chuck berry than,
say, ABC. ABC! not unless it's by the jackson 5. are they even on
here?
no, it's a pretentious list, & if what was trendy was
something elsewise we would have another list. next year if people
re-evaluate eighties tripe even more, a-ha may top the no. 2 spot.
who knows.
