Much to our great pleasure the band cranked into Sonic Reducer about three quarters of the way through their set, but they had barely got going when David Thomas stopped the show dead, pissed off because someone tossed something on stage.

I've seen David Thomas get very pissed at a show where the majority of
tix had been given away by a radio station, which meant there were a lot of
young people there more interested in drinking and talking with pals
than listening to the performance. He dealt with it by putting the mic
on the stand, and sitting down at the edge of the stage and telling a
very funny story to the people who were close enough to hear him. As the
people there for the band started laughing, the people at the back started
realizing they were missing something. After the story, she stood back up,
and said something like "if you hadn't been talking over the performance,
you'd have heard that too."
