Re: (TV) Interview w/ Hell about new DESTINY STREET

REPAIRED is a truly terrible idea on paper. The weird thing is that it works well and I find I do enjoy it more than the original, even though I feel I shouldn't. I love the extended "Destiny Street" (and hearing a modern Hell sing the words a 30something Hell sang about meeting his 20something self is very meta) and don't miss 90 seconds of "Downtown at Dawn" that he dropped. The dueling guitars are occasionally overmixed (too loud) but you can't blame them, esp. if his concern was that the original guitar mixes sounded like sludge.

Hell's vocals work well, too, which is surprising, given the hit-or-miss quality of his vocals on his sporadic 90s-era recordings (Dim Stars, the 3 NEW SONGS ep, and "Oh" from 2000). It's not like the guy works to keep his voice in shape, yet he sounds pretty much like he did in 1977.

I still haven't heard the new version. Really on the fence about it. I
should get it, though, as I imagine it might become hard to find...
