RE: (TV) Don Van Vliet, R.I.P. / 'The Blimp'?



Sorry to hear the news.

I was a big fan of his music.

I sort of stumbled onto him by accident in late 60s or maybe 1970; there was an ad in Rolling
Stone in which for $1 the record company would send you 2 sample albums; they were offering a
Zappa and a collection of assorted artists one of whom was Captain Beefheart.  (I think his
track was called "The Blimp".)

Based "The Blimp" I eventually got "Trout Mask Replica"

I later saw him and his band perform live at Boston Univ.
