All true, but to circle back to TV, I think Calvary Cross is RT's Little
Johnny Jewel, esp. live.
Lots of epic live versions out there, this one ain't half bad, even it does
veer alarmingly into Dickie Betts territory at about 7:50.

His Fairport stuff is masterful and yet the best of that is very
subtle - listen to "Who Knows Where the time Goes" - shit,there ain't
nothing Claptoneseque about that , rather, it's sublimely simple
playing. It's what the song calls for. If Hendrix were chosen to play
the song instead of Thompson, it would have sounded almost no
different.
