Re: (TV) Interesting Review

Wow -- a lot of great RT recommendations here.

I just did a little listening, and the two selections mentioned in this
thread that speak to me right off are:

Richard Thompson "Grizzly Man Soundtrack (Main Title)" -- my gawd what
sensitive powerful harrowing original stuff; this is Thompson as the
guitarist I always wanted him to be:

Fairport Convention "A Sailor's Life" -- terrific folky / drony playing (I
am such a sucker for this kind of drony accoustic stuff):

I think what I really like about these two selections is that Thompson more
or less resists the urge to fill every nook and cranny with notes the way he
often does on songs where he's the featured soloist.

I think it was a famous Saturnian who once said "Space is the place". I
have to agree: makes no difference whether one plays fine and clean through
a crisp Fender amp, or mean and dirty through a stack 'o' Marshalls.

More and more, to me, *less *really is more.

PS - Am also intrigued by this one, though in truth probably more for
Frith's playing. Great idea, though, to pair these two radically different
guitarists; I can imagine Thompson's presence helped iron out some of
Frith's more spiky edges:

French, Frith, Kaiser, Thompson "Days of Our Lives"
