RE: (TV) Record Store Day

I had a Record Store Day experience similar in some respects to Philip's.

I drove to a Newbury Comics record Store in Braintree, MA, and arrived about
20 minutes before it opened at 10am. I had planned on reading the newspaper while
sitting in my car waiting for the store to open as it was only 39 degrees out (unlike
Heath's sweltering 90s). However, I was a little disturbed to see that 8 people were
already lined up outside the store's entrance. So, I got out into the cold morning air
and took my place at number 9. The store had a sign posted on its front window
that said customers would only be allowed to buy one copy of each item.

There was only one person in my age range ahead of me. I was almost tempted to ask
the 8 people ahead of me if they were in line for the Television vinyl release. But I didn't
think I could bear the usual response of "Tell A Who?", so I ate some 93% organic milk
chocolate to fortify myself for the final assault on the store. When the door opened at 10, I
rushed inside ...within 6 feet of the door was a large display-shelf/rack of the special vinyl
LPs for various artists. There were two "Television: Live At The Old Waldorf, San
Francisco, 6/29/78" 's; I grabbed one and then stared scooping up 25 different cds or
cd-singles that were being given away free. My 'Waldorf' copy was stamped #2,863/3,000.

Since I had a little time to kill, I walked to the middle-rear of the store and looked among
the
cds for sale in the T and V sections. I saw three copies of a new Television album, titled,
"Persia"; I grabbed all three. ( They also had "Marquee Moon" and "The Blow Up".) I
methodically went through the V section looking to see which of Verlaine's solo career stuff
they had. Answer: none; he didn't even have a white plastic divider with his name on it and
was absent from the "V-Miscellaneous" section. That's what Tom gets for falling off the face
of the earth since June 2007.

Having got what I wanted I paid for my vinyl treasure and my 3 new Television cds. Outside,
it no longer seemed so cold, and I drove home with great anticipation.

So, now as a result of Robin's diligence and my good luck I will have 2 copies of the vinyl
"Television: Live At The Old Waldorf, San Francisco, 6/29/78". If anyone wants one
contact me off-list (I'll sell it for what I paid for it).
