RE: (TV) Jimmy Rip about the fourth album .../Mortality
my post had the right response, got people listening! if you like television,
you'll like this stuff! I clicked on it to check it out briefly and ended up
listening to the whole album. I'll download 492 now
my personal thoughts about the new tom verlaine tv album is ...... in the old
days, labels could have vanity bands - e.g. "lets have joe strummer on our
label - even though he wont break even its like a signpost to show we are cool
and he will get written about if not bought" - I think it was the same even
when the 3rd television album came out. but now .... there is no pot of gold
at the record company. you'll get enough to recover your recording costs and
some chump change and .... thats it. which is fine if you're a touring band
and the record is a flyer for the gig. but if you're not, then its not so
enticing ..... especially for someone who's been a signed artist and doesnt
feel any need to get his art out there.
