Re: (TV) Anyone know how our NY friends are doing?

Reporting from Westchester county, about 30 miles north of NYC. No power (also means no water from the well) and interior temps in the 50's. Oh, and a tree in my roof/attic.

I was just saying to someone today that you feel silly describing your own situation and despair when there are so many other people suffering much, much worse than you! Got outta Dodge now with family upstate. Local utility company, Con Ed, pretty much saying my area will probably still be off the grid another week at least. But I'm alive and well, and the house is still standing so I'm lucky.

Now that I can see news coverage I'm not liking what I see concerning long lines at the gas pumps. This could get ugly very quickly. Big time Manhattan vs. Us mentality brewing as far as where the restoration efforts are being focused. Saw a "we are Katrina" manifesto from someone in the suburbs and it did not seem like an overstatement.

On a cultural note- getting reading done, including the Pete Townshend bio, and "Stealing All Transmissions: A Secret History Of The Clash" by Randal Doane. He covers the bands' rise in the late seventies as it related to NY free-form radio, their rock press coverage, and ultimately to the famous WNEW simulcast of the Palladium concert 9/21/79*, and the London Calling cover photo.

Hope my local Television neighbors are safe and sound.

Russ-very kind of you to ask.

Dave

* I've questioned the actual date of this photo from the moment I read the album credits when this record came out. I was at the show the day before, on 9/20, and have a clear memory of seeing the guitar smash that day.

Sorry for the digression.
