No. Roxy Music is the best one-two punch ever, (after the Velvets, of

For two radical, fabulous, and influential records released in under a year, the obvious candidate would be The Beatles with Revolver and Pepper. Not my favorite period by them, but it does fit all the criteria.

For Your Pleasure has grown on me, but when I first heard the album -long after the fact, but still decades ago- it was a letdown after the first album. I like it now, but that first album is one of my all-time favorites.

And yes, Keef, that purchase alone sets you off with the cool kids.

I was just playing the first Roxy Music album and I realised (slightly
late) that it's 40 years old. 40! I remember buying it when it first came
out after seeing this:

on the Old Grey Whistle Test.
I was (just) still at school.
It was the last time I was (I thought) "cool". In fact the 3 of us who had
this album thought we were /really/ cool although the James Taylor, Rod
Stewart and Cream fans who made up the rest of our year thought we were
"fucking weird". Which was cool.

This and "For Your Pleasure" - has any other band ever released 2 such
radical, fabulous, influential records in the space of a year? (Well,
probably, but...)

Shit, now I feel /really/ old.

*sigh*
