Actually, I know a couple of classical musicians who complain about having
to perform in shows that are essentially the "hits" of classical music.  One
swears to me that he will never perform Beethoven's 9th symphony's 4th
movement(*) again if the symphony isn't performed as a whole.  I've heard the
other bitch at length against programs that are heavily skewed towards "the
three B's" (Bach, Beethoven and Brahms).  It's not that they dislike those 
pieces per se, but that they're the Top 40 equivalent of orchestral music.

They'd probably kill to be able to perform a John Adams composition!
