That's unlikely to solve the problem. Is the person using MSN in a corporate
environment? If so, it's possible that their email admins are removing ALL
attachments from incoming messages (a not-uncommon security measure these
days). Alternately, are you sure you can send outbound attachments to anyone?
Your email admins could be stripping them out, too. 

Finally, yes, it's possible that some personal antivirus program like McAfee is
stripping out those files, too. I know Outlook Express 6.0, by default, doesn't
allow attachments to be detached from messages as a security "feature"
(although they DO still show up attached to the message).

The only other things I can think of is that some email systems prevent
attachments based on the file extension - so someone might be preventing *.doc
files from getting through. You could try zipping the file before sending it
via Winzip (www.winzip.com), which would change the extension to *.zip.
