Re: (TV) intro to tv

OK here goes.

In 1976/77, I was an 18 year old punk/hippy - yep leather jacket and long
hair. I loved the Pistols and the Stranglers and used to go up to the
Nashville in London to see all sorts of punk bands - used to jump up and
down etc.

Always liked Richard Hell and the Ramones and the Dolls and the Stooges.
Remember the day I bought the Ramones first album still (probably my parents
do as well)

Thought of getting my own band going, messed around but we never really had
the energy and were often too stoned to do anything much.

Went off to university and first heard Marquee Moon pretty much when it came
out, liked the guitars but hated the voice. Couple of years later, used to
go out drinking with some guys who were in a band. Used to go back after the
pubs closed and they often put on Marquee Moon, again hated the vocals.

Cut to about 1991 when I saw Television on Jools Holland (UK TV) doing Call
Mr Lee. Thought it was really cool and put it into the back of my mind.

Cut to 1997 or so and I bought Marquee Moon (don't remember why or where) -
Loved it. In 1998 I bought Television and then a couple of weeks later
Adventure.

Started surfing the net looking for TV stuff, joined the list sometime
around 98/99 and somebody told me about Subterranean Records. I used to go
to NY quite a lot so went in a number of times to buy bootlegs (before you
were on the list Michael). Absolutely loved the live stuff and within a
couple o months I had bought 4 boots and all the Verlaine stuff. Then came a
whole shed load of boots from Santa.

Listened to it all for some time then got bored and now only really ever
play the San Francisco bootleg.

So there you go

Jeremy
