Good ahdeee, Maurice. I'm really down with some of the older jazz ladies. 
Nina Simone could sing her heart out. "Love Me Or Leave Me" has to be one of 
the all-time greatest songs.

La Vern Baker is also one of the most underrated female vocalists. I guess 
she was also one of the only popular ones back in the fifties, and was 
caught behind the curtain of people like sam cooke, frankie lymon, etc etc.

Although you don't hear much from her these days, K.D. Lang is one today's 
best singers. I remember the duet for _Crying_ she did with Roy Orbison 
about a year before he died.

As for today, in da year 2001, I'm down with canadian jazz singer Holly 
Cole, although I'm not too fond of her latest album, and I think that Bibi 
Farber also has a great voice.
