(TV) Rock Biographies

A critically acclaimed biography is Marianne Faithfull's. It's full of
inside information and intelligent insights about the music world,
particularly early Stones. Her publisher told her that her first draft
didn't have enough sex in it. Publishers are always doing that.
(Example: "This draft has limited appeal. Not many people care what kind
of guitar strings the guys use'.") So she wrote a few pages about how
Keith (who'd she slept with only once, and before she was with long-time
beau Mick) was the best. This was the anecdote that got the most
publicity. It made Keith feel good, although he assumed she was mainly
trying to make Mick mad, because at the time Mick was trying to take
back the cottage he'd given her years before. Mick has since forgiven
her, and they're close friends again. She was right to glorify Keith,
who was the one who finally acknowledged that she co-wrote "Sister
Morphine". Now she gets royalties for that, because of Keith.
