Re: Subject: RE: (TV) OT Eno and Semi - On Topic CJ & F

whoa...slow down here...i merely said that in MY musical universe (meaning
what i listen to, what inspires me, what informs my own songs), the beatles
played a minor role...i don't deny for an instant the beatles' pervasive
germ in everything that came after em (sometimes to the detriment of the
music/attitude)...i adore the byrds, love, who, kinks, buffalo springfield,
moby grape, dead, small faces, airplane, & a million other 60s "pop"
groups....& i'd rate all of the above (again: in MY world) above the beatles
...that ain't to say that some of those groups coulda existed as they did if
the beatles hadn't...but i make music (& many of my heroes made/make music)
cos of the velvets...the beatles had virtually nuthing to do with my impulse
to write songs & jump around on a stage....
i'd NEVER wanna get into an argument bout the beatles' merits, except when
i'm drunk & i'm feeling the urge to piss people off...
