completely overlooked band in my opinion....perrett's a fantastic
writer/singer, john perry may be a more trad guitarman than verlaine or
quine or lloyd but he built on ronson's sound/approach & spoke in his own
voice...the production on those 3 records ("only ones", "even serpents
shine" & "baby's got a gun") can sound of its time, but certain songs stand
as some of the best of that era (77-81) & perhaps any rock & roll era...the
debut cam very close to making my top 20 list...
i believe all 3 are available on cd thru the sony rewind series....i've
picked em all up as brit imports for under 15 american dollars or you could
buy "the immortal story", a 22 track comp available as a sony import,
running around 20 american dollars....they're relatively easy to find in
larger american cities...& if you ever come across the peel sessions, grab
it...it's the only ones the way they likely sounded on a great live eve...
