RE: (TV) OT: Greil Marcus' Real Life Top 10 this week....

I like 'some girls'. It's not really a disco album. That would be 'Sucking
In The 70s' or 'Emotional Rescue' which I also like. They should have hung
it up around '83. BUT there were a few bright spots here and there. It's
funny, though, did you read that Bibi Farber thing on her website about
working on one of those godawful stones albs from the 80s? Truly a picture
of excess and waste. I don't even remember what it said. Go there and read
it. Also, there was a funny thing on the Howard Stern Show in the 80s where
they learned that the new stones single was going to be a cover of 'Harlem
Shuffle' so they went in and recorded a version of Harlem Shuffle as the
stones would do it and said they had the New Rolling Stones Single before
any other radio station had it. Most 80s fans had never heard the original,
and it ended up sounding like the actual stones version too. ha ha. Goes to
show what a cookie cutter operation they had become by then.

I frankly don't think the man is capable of a 2 star album on his own,
and I don't think the Stones were capabale of more than 3 stars any time
after the 70s. (I'm sorry, but when they went disco on Some Girls, they
should have been put out of our misery.)
