(TV) Tom's solo albums.

Two messages in the space of a week - There must be
something wrong with me.

I'm very glad a few of you out there agree with how I
feel. It is very hard to get the courage to post to
the list as I live in scotland and all of my TV
experience is mediated - I have never seen any member
of TV on TV or in real life, only in pictures and
sounds on records. Everybody else is so involved, and
has seen the band etc and have as a result one of the
most civil, interesting and intellectualy stimulating
forums for debate i have ever taken part in has
formed. The list folks seem to have encyclopaedic
knowledge of these bands like "The electric bunnies"
etc I have never even heard of and have no opinion on,
so I find it difficult to find a point of reference
for debate.

I also hate beating around the bush. I find it hard
also to talk about Tom because so little is said about
him or his band that sometimes I will slay 150 "OT"
mails in the space of few days. But this list is great
and impassioned, and i have been a member for ages and
do not wish to insult or offend anybody who regularly
rambles off topic - it has been discussed before and
there is no discernible line to draw on what is and is
not relevant. Hence i do not want to throw in
irrelevant stuff in fear of being lambasted.

This next bit i hope some folks find relevant.

Dreamtime for me is one of the best ever albums and
gives me the wooglies every time. Thise first few
stasbbing chords make me think of the MGM banner
ushering in the most vibrant guitars and drums,
pummeling home the message for the listener that this
is no ordinary love song. The cinematic sweeps of
guitar are not rock cliche or the indulgence of a
soloist - they are perfectly formed parts of a jigsaw.

I love the first album as well, not a patch on
dreamtime but "Last night" and that one note that
becomes two, then three in the solo are gorgeous.
