RE: (TV) Re: rumors /Just The Freakin Facts please / Prove It

Paul,

OK, but performing in NYC during that "scene"
doesn't mean Verlaine was shooting up or encouraged
or approved heroin's use/abuse.

Hey, it is common knowledge that TV has admitted
that he used heroin on a *single* occasion when his
friends gave him a shot after he had been mugged and
received broken rib (the interview is on Keith's
site (I think it's NY Rocker 1979 or maybe Boston Rock 1981?)
(And maybe there were even more uses[?])

But to claim that he was "... part of a scene that
included legendary heroin use/abuse and that
traded on/played up that aspect of the scene" is sheer
balderdash.

TV was never part of any drug scene; Jesus, he pretty much wasn't
even part of the music/social "scene" then. He was just as much the
loner (paranoid individualist?) then as he is now; he
didn't hang-out. Just the facts please, not the myth.

	Leo

ps: I could say more but I don't want to bring out the
heavy evidence and artillery as yet.

tom verlaine
richard hell
johnny thunders
peter laughner
dee dee ramone
jim carrol
 . . . this list could go on and on . . .

they were all part of a scene that
included legendary heroin use/abuse
and that traded on/played up that
aspect of the scene.

i don't think the question was ridiculous.

trying to distuinguish legend (or rumour)
from truth is the fan's role. failure at
that attempt sustains fandom.
