RE: (TV) W: CD-Rs versus CDs FYI
It is also worth mentioning that CDRs are fairly new technology manufactured
by those private companies you justly berated in a previous email. It is in
their best interests to make exceptional claims for their products, and
especially tempting if their claims cannot easily be tested by consumers. If
my understanding is correct a CDR is a photosensitive chemical concoction
sandwiched between two layers of plastic. It has to be able to survive some
pretty awful conditions during its lifetime. I have had my fair share of CDR
nightmares. On the bright side though, the technology is moving on, and CDRs
now are generally much better quality than those of only a few years ago.
