(TV) Reissue thoughts

I've been living with these a week now so I thought I'd put in my overvalued
two cents' worth. It's IMHO and YMMV.
Packaging: cheap ass! $17.98 for each of these and they couldn't spring for
a jewel box? Nice booklets, though.
Sound: Great, but no marked improvement over the prior releases - maybe a
little more depth and body for lack of better terms. Interestingly, the
oscillating tubes at the end of "Friction" on the old MM CD release don't
oscillate on this release, they just sort of whine. Much like this post.
Bonus tracks: Nice and interesting, but not essential - EXCEPT: hearing
"LJJ" on this release is like looking at the Sistine Chapel after the
grime's been removed! You can practically tell where the guys were sitting
(Tom is at God's right hand and Secret X holds the apple). Also the way
they worked as a rhythm section on "O Mi Amore" (I love Billy's hi-hat here)
or the extended "Ain't that Nothing." The latter is particularly
interesting as they jam their butts off without one solo; let's see (insert
current flavor of the month here) do that. BTW, am I the only person who
expected to hear someone sing "Radio on!" during the last half of that
track?

If you've got the fews and twos in your kick, by all means go ahead and get
them. On the other hand, if you really need that pair of shoes, waiting to
pick these up won't kill you. Spring for "Live at the Old Waldorf" instead.
