Re: (TV) A new focus for the TV mailing list

First, this is hilarious. It almost tops "Greg at the Grammies" from
a few years back (almost!).

The Marquee Moon Mailing List is over 6 years old now. I started it
as a way to keep abreast of Tom Verlaine's rare solo appearances,
because I was annoyed that I hadn't known about his instrumental show
at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA when I was living nearby, until
after it had happened.

Well, the list still serves that purpose. I still know when Tom or
Richard or Television is going to play somewhere. On a handful of
rare occasions, I even knew when new material was being released,
like THE COVER DOESN'T MATTER and two impossibly obscure Verlaine
cameos (that French soundtrack and the Kris Kristoferson tribute I
haven't been able to find).

But I agree that the band hasn't done much, and the list is typically
pretty quiet. I wish there were more news to report, but generally
there isn't. Especially now that Rhino has reissued everything, and
also given us probably the best-quality live album (or archival
release) we're ever going to get, I don't expect to see many (or
any) new releases OR reissues in the future.

I'm OK with that. The list still gets news to me. Occasionally,
someone on the list points to a band I wind-up like (the Go-Betweens,
for example).

But if there is serious interest in widening or altering the scope of
the list, I'm definitely open to suggestions.
