I'm probably all wet, but is your question above
referring to when during a studio session, Miles
Davis screamed at Thelonious Monk for playing the
wrong (and too many) notes?

The Monk mention is to indicate that if the babel-list folks think Tom's playing some "odd" notes, wait 'til they get a load of all those minor seconds in Monk's melodies and harmonies! From there, we can go Coltrane, Coleman, Branca's/Renaldo's "staircase chord" (stacked minor seconds--it really sounds great when you get four or more people playing this simultaneously...and I'm serious about that), and then into the microtonalities (Partch, Young, etc.).

The "asplode" shibboleth isn't nearly so on-topic: http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/video_games (scroll down for the text; original Flash cartoon here: http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail94.html).
