(TV) ceci n'est pas un sammy hagar.

or une myspace, either, for that matter--

--as a person who largely, as per here, goes by the anonymous
moniker of lurkerette, before i return to my den of greyed out existence
i find myself oddly, yet compellingly, called upon upon to yell the only
too obvious from what may be the nadir of the pinnacle pointing the top
of the mountain today called NeedsComment.

richard lloyd is no sammy hagar.

the name richard lloyd does not belong in the same sentence w/ the
name sammy hagar.

it would be difficult to conceive of anyone the others could hire
who would give the same /je ne sais quoi/ to television as did the shot
in the arm by one mr. hagar to van halen. this, of course, is all for
the better.

i suppose i am a bit punchy just before six this morning. after
having been put in the position once again of having to write my
broker's secretary, a person certainly unfamiliar w/ television, tom
verlaine, richard lloyd, sammy hagar or even, how can it be?, david lee
roth &., quite possibly, van halen. & it may be a smidgen of delayed
reaction to my living situation, one which entails hearing about the
daily lives of at least one if not several members of the newly
semi-reunited van halen nearly every day [true], & this from the most
mundane perspective [housekeepers, cars, parties, rehab, etc & ect]. i
cannot say i prefer hearing about this to hearing about running into
gene simmons at rite-aid-- then again, these are the slings & arrows of
living ones life attached to a musician in los angeles. better, think i,
than being attached to my broker-- if, of course, w/ not as much
consistent cash. but i digress.

it may be that lately i have heard too much of the demi-traitorous
sammy hagar. still, the idea of a sammy-like replacement in television
is not only even more inappropriate than it was in van halen, whether or
not they made oodles more cash on sammy than david-- how could such a
thing even be effected? who would be SO bad yet SO bizarrely appealing,
w/ an appeal only appreciable to someone who knows nothing--? who that
listens to television knows nothing? this is not fathomable.

falling asleep i think it was just the juxtaposition that got me. as
someone somewhere must say, we are all either old or dead but i have
seen sammy hagar & i have seen richard lloyd &, unlike apparently sammy
hagar, he isnt handelling timeshares to the starstruck masses, just a
few dozen miles away from wabo cabo, give or take, oh, i dont know,
whatever it is that appeals to sammy hagar to take or give. /to
handel/-- yiddish. look it up. works not particularly well for me, looks
like it works pretty well for sammy.

a propos of very little i am also reminded that we who made up the
very last people who made up what it means to be cool [disaffected,
alien & alienated, apart & this on purpose, dark & gloriously so,
outside & moving further away, elite, elitist, elusive] --we who were &
remain not as others-- why should we have any truck whatsoever w/
myspace? ninety million people canNOT be cool. it is antithetical. when
i think that we are either old or dead i can remember that, either way,
at least most of us are not on myspace. always i feel an affinity;
specifically in the way of his having no control over this, sometimes i
also feel sorry for peter laughner.

or darby crash, for that matter, who gets it once again in june.
perhaps pat would be the only possible fourth tv guitarist? but when i
think of sammy hagar, i feel instead forced to think of the van halen of
not the mid-late 70s gazarris but the mid-late 70s whisky a gogo. this
would be the weasels, & i dare anyone else here to remember "beat her w/
a rake." pat would, i would, i would bet w/ certainly so would any & all
of van halen. richard lloyd would not but, seeing as he has taken some
sort of-- something, he can laugh along in silence w/ the rest of us,
one of which has now re-hung the "gone lurking" sign, beyond that-- who
knows where we be. the riddle, more bu w/ a bit of ju than su, i
believe, hath already been told & solved in its telling. au revoir.
