I look forward to hearing the record. One of the highlights of my time in NYC
was seeing Richard cover Cream's "I'm So Glad" at the Bottom
Line as his contribution to a tribute to the British Invasion c. 2000 -- he
took
a song that never did much for me and stole the show with it. I like Hendrix,
but I don't generally seek him out, so I have high hopes for getting the
"I'm So Glad" effect again...

One thing that's interesting for me is that none of the well-known books
about the 70s CBGBs/New Wave era ever really mention Richard's connection to
Hendrix -- not that I can think of, anyway. Books like "Please Kill
Me" or "From the Velvets to the Voidoids" spend lots of time
drawing (musical) connections to the VU, Stooges, NY Dolls, etc. but I can't
think of any personal connections being drawn to Hendrix (or anyone of that
stature -- sure, Patti Smith loved Jim Morrison, but she didn't take lessons
from him). Yet clearly Hendrix was a huge formative influence on Lloyd. Does
this show up anywhere in Television's sound, or even Lloyd's solo work
to date?

Favorite Hendrix record: AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE.

'I knew a guy who knew Hendrix...I forgot where Hendrix lived, but it's
around here somewhere...'
I am sure Richard has good intentions, but
Is this whole project coming off as just a little pathetic, or is it just
me?
I hope the record is good.
I can't wait to hear all the 'lesser-known' songs like Spanish
Castle Magic (!)

The songs he played while touring last year didn't impress.
I'd rather hear Lloyds 'take' on Hendrix, rather than a
reproduction
