Well, if it provides you any solace, that Chicago show (aka: "May 10, 2001,
The Metro Chicago, Illinois-The Complete And Best Sounding Version-(From
Three Different Sources) Aka 'The Metro Upgrade 3-Source Matrix'-LOSSY
Mini-Disc1!" has a 'Marquee Moon' of 14:47.6 just song itself (the track
containing it is: 16:19.8), and of all the versions less than 15 min. I
believe it's the 2nd longest.

By the way, there was one serious mistake and 3 bad typos in my 4 Part: The
20 Longest Live Versions of 'M M' (but nobody noticed :>) except maybe
Keith):

1) #19 was incorrect: I.e., 19)** " 'Live In Brazil': October 23, 2005, The
TIM Festival, The Modern Art Museum (MAM), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil-The DIME
Version-DVD15". 'Swells'-like Instrumental Intro (1:28.1; but a 0.7 drop-out
from 0:21.7 - 0:22.4)/Marquee Moon (16:30.5 just the song; however, last
1:20.0 is 'Swells'-redux. So, 'M M' only 15:10.5). There is no long,
'jazzy', improvised section of 'M M' at Television shows.

*** I forgot to subtract *both* Swells' from the Brazil 'M M':
Marquee Moon/Swells2redux (17:17.2 total track; 16:23.2 just the songs
'Swells1' + 'Marquee Moon' + 'Swells2'; 'only' ***13:38.7*** just 'Marquee
Moon' itself since 'Swells1' is 1:24.8 and 'Swells2redux! is 1:19.6)

So, the 19th longest 'M M' has been replaced by:
19) "October 22 [sic], 1982 [Actually July 8, 1982], The Peppermint Lounge,
NYC": 'Marquee Moon' (15:08.3 is just the song itself).

2) The original version of the paragraph below that was sent to the M M
Mailing List had three egregious TYPOS (corrections now marked with triple
asterisk ***) My results and methodology were correct; these were just
sloppy transcription errors in my typing.

"Here are details on the non-faded-out guitar-crescendo-ending version of
'Marquee Moon' on the 2003 Remastered cd of Marquee Moon: The .wav file of
the track has 0.3 sec. of lead-in silence; so 0.3 sec. needs to be
subtracted from any particular elapsed time of Total Recorder. The
guitar-crescendo aka a 'swell' occurs at 10:27.7 (i.e., at elapsed time
10:28.0 minus the 0.3 sec. silent lead-in). By 10:32.0 (i.e., at elapsed
time 10:32.3 minus 0.3 sec.), the guitar crescendo has been slowly decaying
for 4.3 sec. allowing the emergence of repeating and tinkling piano notes (a
Verlaine dub). Despite its decay, the guitar-crescendo continues to
reverberate faintly, then ghostly until at 10:40.2 (i.e., at elapsed time
10:40.5 minus 0.3 sec.), after a total of 12.5 sec., the guitar's
reverberation can no longer be heard over the still tinkling piano. The
piano, itself, has grown weaker and weaker until at ***10:41.4*** [NOT
10:41.2] (i.e., at elapsed time ***10:41.7*** minus 0.3 sec.)[not (i.e., at
elapsed time 10:41.5 minus 0.3 sec.)], after a total of ***9.4 sec.*** [NOT
9.2 sec.] sec. of piano, there is total silence.

Since there are several members of the Television-Group who do not subscribe
to the M M Moon Mailing List, I will be sending my 4 Part The 24 Longest
Live Versions Of The Song 'Marquee Moon' to the Television-Group shortly
with the Brazil error and the 3 Typos fixed and 21st thru 24th longest
versions added. (Albeit the Television-Group seems pretty moribund; maybe
this will jolt them into action. :>) )

Part 4, with all of the details about Total Recorder, including
testimonials, might be my favorite part of all. Wow.

That being, I un-scientifically always
thought the May 10, 2001 show featured one of the longest performances of
"Marquee Moon", what with the mid-crescendo breakdown, but I guess not.
Sigh.
Leo, to think that I spent my snow day just shoveling and trying to keep the
kids from going crazy!

Leo, I would expect no less...!

A fine, fine piece of detective work/obsessive
behaviour. Congratulations!
