Re: Hell & Women / F Hopeless!

Well, I loved the Marquee Moon shows. I think he still plays rings around anyone else out there.
I'd love to be able to discover a guitar player who moves me in the way Tom does, but I've just never found anyone else.
His voice doesn't bother me. I like frail, vulnerable voices.

I still love his playing when he is “on” but that is very rare in the last ten years. And his singing is just like a person who is in pain. He clearly doesn’t practice or care about the people who paid to see him. My friends who went to see the “Marquee Moon” shows left halfway through - said Jimmy Rip was shit, and Tom obviously couldn’t wait to leave. I never went to that show in my city because I knew what to expect from recent recordings of shows, and also I was pissed that they billed it as “Television”. It wasn’t.

Really? I've been a fan since the late 80s, but gee, I just can't get enough of his playing.
More so now than ever! I hardly ever listen to the old shows. Horses for courses, I guess.

Oh that’s easy. Watch any live performance from the last ten years. If you need any further reassurance, watch it with someone who is unfamiliar with Television/Tom Verlaine and simply say: “this is good music”. Report back to us with what their review was.

Curious to know, in what way is he hopeless?

I thought both were very well written and interesting, but Hell/Myers came across as having  total contempt/ hatred [?!?] for women.

I must say, I didn't feel/sense that.

“He’s fuckin’ hopeless!”

I may have to add a new section to The Wonder: "He's Fuckin' Hopeless" - Tom Verlaine in the 2,000s
