Reed vs. Cale... I don't adore either, but I'd definitely pick Cale as my
preference. There's only a few Reed solo albums I can take in their entirety -
THE BLUE MASK is fantastic, and I love TRANSFORMER (but the Bowie/Ronson
influence is undoubtedly a factor), but the rest of Reed is hit-or-miss for me.
On the other hand, Cale's PARIS 1919, FEAR, FRAGMENTS OF A RAINY SEASON, and
SLOW DAZZLE are all excellent, and lots of great songs crop up elsewhere.

And I absolutely love SONGS FOR DRELLA, though it could lose one or two songs
easily enough ("Images", "Forever Changed").
